Nigeria’s rapid population growth, increased deforestation annually and downturn of economic activities are vulnerable to the agricultural sector. Nigeria is gradually transforming with the arrival of AI-powered solutions tailored specifically for small and large-scale farmers. These AI-powered solutions have proven to be an invaluable tool for enhancing agricultural production and productivity. The use of new technologies and innovations in the country becomes necessary for food security and employment. However, the adoption of AI may likely cause some challenges in the country such as unemployment of unskilled and semi-skilled laborers and other people who work on the farm. Also, the insufficient connectivity network in rural areas may lead to AI ineffectiveness in many areas. The study recommends that adequate connectivity networks and other infrastructure should be provided, as well as training extension personnel on adopting AI.
