The development of a state is contingent upon the security of life and property. Unfortunately, Nigeria's progress has been hindered by a surge in insecurity both within and beyond its borders. Nigeria has been facing significant security challenges in recent years, including terrorism, kidnapping, and violent conflict. These security challenges have had a significant negative impact on the country's economic development, leading to a decline in foreign investment and a rise in unemployment. There is also evidence that the lack of security has led to a decrease in public trust and confidence in the government, which has further undermined national integrity. The objective of the research is to examine the role of security and its socioeconomic implications on Nigeria’s national integrity. The study utilizes secondary research methods and employs the state fragility theory to achieve its objective.
